Progress of the project
The regional competition (in Frankfurt) took place on February 14, 2008 and was organized by Fraport AG, a great experience. Contrary to expectations, we achieved 1st place in the working world category and were allowed to take part in the state competition.
The Hesse state competition (in Darmstadt) was organized by Merck on April 7th and 8th. A wonderful, warm competition that was hosted with great attention to detail. Here too: Against all expectations, we achieved 1st place and the special prize for occupational safety, the statutory accident insurance, which meant that we were allowed to go to the national competition in Bremerhaven.
Bremerhaven was absolutely amazing. We met highly talented fellow competitors and it was not a case of competition, but of working together. Everyone helped each other and there was no jealousy. We saw fantastic projects and so we didn’t mind not getting a prize - an absolutely unique experience to be with so many creative young people. It was a great surprise and joy that our mentor Mr. Tech visited us. In any case, there was general interest in our stand during the exhibition, head teachers, teachers and educators were finding out about possible hearing damage in children and young people. There seems to be a great need for information. We should continue to work on this.
Our success in the Jugend-forscht competition was recorded in the Wikipedia article of the IKS.
Regionally, we were able to exhibit and, above all, provide information at the Engineering Night 2008 of the FH-Wiesbaden in Rüsselsheim and on the Sunday when shops were open in Rüsselsheim city center.
Basically: We don’t want to proselytize, but simply inform people about the potential dangers of high noise levels.
